hello, i am contemplating whether or not to take a job offered in Italy for a state school job here in the uk, if i stay here i know i will be looked after in the sense of benefits and pay etc. If i go to Italy i keep reading thats its not a secure career and its only advisable for a few years! i know at the start it will be hard being employed for only 8/9 months but i was wondering, do things get better if you stay with the same school? i read that most schools only let you renew a contract twice! is this true? is there such thing as a year contract with pension contributions, even if you have to be employed for 8/9 months for the 1st few years!

Please help guys! whats your adive!

Mille grazie! se c'e un dio la vita sara piu bella per noi TEFLers!!

Not usually (from a legal standpoint)

Depends on the contract. Is it a national contract (probably not) or is it a "private" contract?

There is such a thing but it depends on the type of contract.

Hey there,

My mother came to italy 35 years ago, started working tefl, now she is one of the senior english teachers in the biggest school in town, does work for the university, local goverment, and has private lesson offers coming ou of her ears. and there are a whole bunch of ex pats in y home town of Trento, that have done the same thing.

they'll put you on a "graduatoria", or ask them to put you on it, it's a chart, the longer you teach the higher up you go, the higher up you go the beter you get payed and the more secure your job gets.

The contract ca be renewd for more than 2 years I'm pretty damn sure.

Give it a go mate, you have nothin to loose1
