|
|
I have been asked to an interview with ALTIA. Wasn't really expecting them to get back to me considering my experience and the fact that I am applying from the UK - but there you go. I hear they are one of the best companies to work for....
So, aside from the general negative due to the fact that they are a dispatch company... I would love to hear anyone's experiences at all relating to working for them.
I would particularly like to hear if anyone knows about the interview, I am slightly concerned after the interrogation I got from Nova. While I realise it's probably not going to be much like that, I am finding it difficult to get an idea of what it may be like.
All your input is most welcome.
Cheers. |

My interview was more of 2 guys just talking. No interogation, very informal and left me with a good impression.
I did talk a lot about my prior experiences in Japan and teaching in general and give some examples of difficult situations I came across. It was less question based and more just getting to know each other.
I also stressed that I believe that it's more than teaching than going home, it's just as much about staying late with after school clubs and going to community festivals.
Please pm me with any specific q's. I was offered a job with them after my interview but didn't take it, so I can't tell you what it's like to work for them. |

Hey I have an interview with them too at the end of October in London. Pretty small world. From the feed back that I have gotten from other people (view my other posts) the interview seems to be just as the previous poster has suggested...more of an informal questioning, get to know you period. I am not really concerned at all, actually looking forward to the oppotunity but am leery of the travel from Glasgow to London in 2 days in order to be back to work in time. Hey incindentaly (previous poster) why didn't you take the job with them? Just curious. Anyway gl man...but not too much luck cause my wife and I want the job too...lol...you know how it is.

well i'm interviewing in manchester so that gives me the chance to get in there first and wow the pants off them haha.
no, i don't really rate my chances too highly - i have all the enthusiasm in the world but next to zero experience - i'm sure there will be plenty of applicants with that in their favour. having said that, knowing that the interview is a reasonably friendly affair is a bonus.
good luck.
ps. interac also got back to me which means they are probably recruiting if you are interested... they have a pretty shady rep, but you always have that pinch of salt too.
ps. that's a bonny coo. |

hey rue,
as soon as my canadian employer caught wind that I was moving they made it too lucrative for me to move. so i delayed my plans for another year here just to give my current job a shot. i also had a few other career oppurtunities pop up here at the same time. I'm pretty sure Japan isn't going anywhere so I decided to delay. |

so i sent in all my application info...and chris (who seems like a very nice person) contacted me for a to be determined interview session...jimbo, lemme know how yours goes...even though it's already been stated that it's more like a casual conversation....
also, wouldn't one chances be more on the good side, if they are willing to make the travel arrangements to meet with you (and other applicants) |

I agree that Chris did sound nice via email but since there are no interviews anywhere near me(not even in my country) I had to nix the idea. |

Do you think that Chris or anyone working in management would be willing to travel to Korea to interview an applicant? |

hip hop,
Not unless they are flying to visit a lot of other applicants. Doesn't look like they've recruited from Korea before.
I'd say no. |

My wife and I have an interview on the 26th of this month in London. I will post here how it went when it is all said and done. Fingers crossed it goes well...because this sounds like a sweet position.

Lol Jimbo...I just re-read your last post and noticed that you said "that's a bonny coo...". Aiye lad tis' a braw coo indeed. Love these guys! There are a bunch of them down the road from us in Pitlochry. We've already done the classic tourist bit and gone and taken their pictures. But hey when you look that cool how can you not take pictures! |

my interview as mentioned above was very informal but professional at the same time.
i was very impressed with Altia overall and had done my research.
i was offered several jobs by them, sadly i had to turn them down based on job events. i would however very happily accepted a job from if i move to japan again. |

OMG Pitlochry!!! I love it there! I did my raft guide course in Aberfeldy and loved it (though almost froze to death).
(Sorry totally off topic I know but I couldn't resist )

Off topic again...dude that is sweet...where'd you do it? I paddled on the Tummel quiet a bit this summer...sweet, sweet river...especially when there was a dam release. Also did the Gary too...good section of water. Small world.
On topic - - stretch - - how soon after your interview were you offered the jobs with Altia? Any tips and hints for the interview? If you do PM me...lol.
