Hello. I just have a quick question. If I got fired from my job in China, what are the government regulations? Will I have to leave China throughout the duration of my work visa? Or does getting fired mean I can work the next day for another school? Also, is it easy or hard to find your way around the big cities? Just thought I'd ask. See ya.

Depends on the province, depends on the city and depends on the school. Officially if you got fired then your residence permit would be cancelled. But then again if you have another job lined up, get fired from your current position, it might be possible to continue working. |

seems to me that getting fired is too much hard work..... i've seen some pretty outrageous stuff being done by teachers and never any danger of being fired was detected.....

This is something that should be asked before starting any job . Make things simple for us . Just tell me what I need to do to get fired ? I think what is going on in China with foreign teachers is the same that is going on in general in China . Most people in their 20's are bouncing from job to job . Same for me . Everywhere I work there is no continuity of workers . They just assume someone else will take the position .
Congratulations my last job in Beijing I worked my tail off and when they finally broke my back with 6 different classes a day all over the city (bus) I said I wouldn't do it any more . They fined me more money than I made. This is after I paid my own way there and had to spend two weeks in a hotel again at my expense .
Person in charge a Canadian . If you remember the person who was assaulted in Beijing a few months back . He was his friend a defrocked priest from Canada . The man was probably colcocked by one of the teachers who worked for him . |

Let me rephrase your initialy question:
"Can I use the remainder of my visa's validity to work for another employer?"
The answer, in principle, is: No!
LEgally, you have no right to make a living on a work visa that has been cancelled (or invalidated by your losing your job).
You will need a new sponsor, i.e. an employer that buys you a new work visa.
That this involves a vetting of your background goes without special emphasis.
You might be lucky in getting a release letter from your current employer even if he wants to sack you. Why he should do you this favour is beyond me but you might succeed anyway.
we don't know, after all, why he feels the urge to get rid of you. |
