If you're in the country, away from the city lights, the heavens offer a nice view this week. Look at the moon around 8 PM. Venus, nice and bright is nearby. If it's flat terrain, you can even spy Mercury in the southwest just after sunset. Can't see it in DF.
Mars is up a little later in the evening as well...big and red. If you get up early for class, apparently Jupiter can be seen by the naked eye before dawn. |

I think I saw Venus shining brightly to the southeast of the moon (also shining brightly) in the Saturday evening sky in the heart of the D.F. |

Ah yes, I saw it too. Go see Mars right now in DF, over the US embassy from your point of view MO, 1/3 of the way up to the middle. |

Thanks for clearing that up. Ive spent the last few nights wondering which planet it was - way too bright for an ordinary star. Astonishingly bright. Any idea what time Mars is up and about? |

I saw it last night rising fairly low in the...northeast or east (maybe?) around 7:00 PM. By 8 and 9 it was high enough up. Got binoculars? There's a ragin dust storm all over Mars right now. |

If you want to see Mars a bit closer up, here's a site for you.

I don't have any red/blue glasses handy, but the cross-eyed pics are really cool. They can give you a headache if you stare too long though.
Enjoy
