Is teaching private lessons legal when under contract?
If so, do employers try to interfere or stop you from teaching privates?
What is the going rate for teaching privates? What's a realistic expectation to make in a month?
Is it difficult to find private students? |

In most contracts the school will state that you are not permitted to conduct private classes. This is mainly because the school will not be making any money from it. I've done some private work that was organised by the school and they received a percentage of the profits. Since then I've done some secret private work.
For me I'd say an acceptable price would be 100 yuan for 60 minutes, 50 yuan for 30 minutes and so on...
So by that rate if you did about 7 hours a week for four weeks you'd make 2800 yuan. |

Andiscott84 said it concisely.
You would have to think of conflicting timetables and the tax might kick in if you made extra money. (It kicks in in theory automatically even if you earn just over 4000).
As for horly rates, they vary from locale to locale but 100 is, apprently, the basic national minimum. Though how a Yunnan villager can pay such a rate is beyond me. |
