Hi all,
Does anyone have any info on Mattys English School. There is some info here.But the most recent info was back in Sept. 2004. Any new info would be appreciated.Likes?Dislikes? Thnx. I'm scheduled to leave for Yokohama to work for them early Jan. Thnx

I've never worked for them, but I live a few blocks away... Their building is quite nice and the area is fantastic. They seem to have less cars than a few years ago, so maybe there's less driving involved.

I can show you around the mountain paths when you get here! There are lots of coloured Buddhist relief carvings on the rock faces, one big Buddha, tons of rock-climbing places, and paths to temples and Zushi. A few decent fishing spots.

Are you going to live in Oppama or Shonan Takatori? Rent is pretty cheap in the area. If you end up in Hamamidai, there is a path you can take over the mountain to work. (Walking... cycling the path is suicidal. I've tried.)

The town has a big shopping mall and a few video stores, an internet cafe, a few restaurants and izakayas... and finally, a coin laundry. Lots of old snacks. Bus service to Shonan Takatori is good. No buses to Hamamidai; the road's too narrow.

Anyhow, I hope someone with experience working at the school will chime in!

I, too, have never worked for them. But they are always advertising for staff. That makes me wonder about working conditions.
