I did a quick search for this, but couldn't find anything immediately helpful.
What is the standard textbook that Chinese teachers use to teach English to total beginners?
I seem to remember at one point that it used to be "Let's Talk! 1", but an internet search claims that this is for HIGH beginners to Intermediate.
Any advice to point me in the right direction will be very helpful. |

What an open-ended question!
What agel are you taliing about?
What subject are you talking about?
And here is a tentative answer: I would choose NEW CONCEPT ENGLISH for the obvious reason that it has been in use the longest, is concise, well-structured, and, above all, it has 5 different levels from total beginners to advanced, each book focusing on all four communcations skills. |

Thanks Roger,
Sorry, the post was a bit of a rush job.
The students are all adults, and the subject is general conversational Engilsh.
I will check out the New Concept books at my next opportunity. |

Headway, New Interchange would do.
Let's talk 1 is for Elementary to Pre-Intermediate level. Students are required to be able to read and write and have basic rapport of English. |
