Here's the situation.
A work collegue has resigned due to poor health, has given notice, etc
Thing is she would like to stay on in Japan for a month or so to do some travelling and what have you.
What are her options visa wise?
How long can she stay on her current work visa after leaving her job. Can she transfer to a tourist visa?
All replies appreciated. |

Strange as it may seem, she can stay on the same visa status even without an employer until her visa expires. Of course, the question that comes to my mind is, how will she support herself until then? If she plans to just travel around, she won't have an apartment, right? |

I'm also curious. If she is too ill to work, how on earth can she be healthy enough to travel around Japan for a month? |

Perhaps teh reason for her illness is that she is sick of her job |

Glenski is right about the visa situation. That won't be a problem.
Regarding moot's point: I worked with someone who was so sick as to claim to be bedridden from time-t0-time and ended up missing about two months of work. In those two months were trips to onsens and China. Some people just scam the system; whatever that system may be. |
