Have some questions about quitting Nova. If anyone could help me out, that would be great.

1) If I quit and have unused paid holidays, will Nova pay them into my last pay cheque?

2) I've been told that if I quit, I can reclaim the insurance or something? (not sure about this).

Hope you guys can help me, thanks!

If you quit, NOVA will not reimburse you for your unused paid holidays. It's best to apply for all of your holidays, wait until they are approved, and then submit your resignation letter. Have your resignation take effect the day after your paid holidays are used up.

You will not get any money back from your insurance payments either.

Nova WILL give you your unused holidays. Just be sure to give sufficient notice and explain that you want your unused holidays tacked on to the end of your employment. If you have a good relationship with your head teacher or area manager this shouldn't be a problem.

Insurance payments are gone forever. If you've stayed in Japan for over a year, however, you may be able to get your taxes back.

Yep, I worked for Nova for 2.5 years exactly- I stayed until the day I qualified for my 12 days paid holiday, requested to take them all in a row, and resigned effective the last day of my paid holidays, submitting the requests for both of these at the same time. Of course I had already left Japan by the end of my holidays. Lots of people do this, it was no problem at all, and it was all there in my last pay cheque.
