I have been offered a job at SITC and told that I will have to pay 25% Tax on $13 an hour. Is this OK or a scam ?
I have never been in Vietnam. |

25% tax on $13 USD per hour comes to $9.75 per hour.
Fitz,
What are your qualifications and EFL experience, if you don't mind me asking? |

There is a 25% tax that can be applied to foreign workers living in Vietnam less than 183 days....
SITC's scam is...
they try to contract every teacher in at a 25% tax regardless of how long you lived in Vietnam, and they don't refund all of this tax money after you have lived in Vietnam for the 183 days (which is Vietnam National Law: foreign workers get this tax money refunded after 183 days)
they mistreat teachers in so many little ways that most teachers leave within a few months and they just replace the face with someone else who will put up with it for a short time again. Complaints about SITC are all over most forums with ESL in Vietnam, browse under nearly any topic regarding 25% tax or time clock cheats and you will find them. If you come to Vietnam try one of 100 different schools and you will be treated better. |
