I wonder if anyone has been in a similar situation?
I will soon need to send some money from the UK to Poland (a small legacy equal to about a month or so in wages) and wonder how best (and cheapest) to do it. I don't want to eat into the amount by using Western Union, I don't have a British Bank account, and if the lawyers just transfer it to my Polish bank account, I worry that the 'Kontrola Dewizowa' people who check everything will quibble because it isn't coming from my own account and might be taxable (I had this problem once before, when the comments field on the transfer looked like I was lending money without a licence - I wasn't, it was just a few quid to reimburse me for some textbooks). I don't fancy sending it by post, even recorded delivery, and I won't be in the UK for some time.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steph |

| My advice is get a trustworthy Pole you know who works in the UK to carry it in person if they're travelling home at any stage and change it into Zloty in Poland(always the best deal)... |

| One of the easiest ways for me as an American to get money in the local currency is for someone to deposit money into my US bank account. I can then withdrawal the money at a ATM/bankomat in the local currency at a good exchange rate and with minimal fees. |
