Are contact lens and glasses cheap here. I usually get my contact 1'day from costco. Does anyone know how much they cost here. I was also interested in getting another pair of glasses. Any idea on the cost of that too. Any good recommendations. Do i need an eye exam or is my us prescription good enough. or can i just bring in the contacts that i have. |

I buy my acuvue clear at www.lof.com.ar
I pay AR$ 20 a pair that lasts one month.
I was using one a day but was way too expensive AR$ 80 and lasts one month.
Take the box of the ones you have, and simply tell them you want "repuesto de las mismas". If they go formal about it, blink an eye an say: come one, sell them to me (they will).
I have no idea if these prices are cheap or expensive, the lenses are imported so perhaps is even more expensive than in the US?? |

I don't wear glasses or contacts so I don't know how it would work here, but I had a strange experience in reverse.
I went to a Lens crafters in USA for a girl I was dating in Argentina to buy her contacts and bring them to Argentina. I had a copy of her prescription from Argentina for eye glasses. The Doctor said he could not sell me contacts with out a prescription issued by a doctor. I explained the situation, but he was unwilling to bend. The whole thing was very odd to me! He claimed he could get in trouble if he sold them to me.... |

they aren't big on perscriptions here, at least for meds. you can get just about anything over the counter here that you'd need a perscription for in the US (penecilin, migraine medicine, birth control, etc etc etc)
and even if you're supposed to need a perscription here for contacts or something like that, they don't seem to care about "the rules" as much as they do in the US either. |
