Greetings,
I am about to embark on a year-long contract to teach in Slovakia. I've been to the country before three times on short-stay excursions. Recently the employer with whom I've been corresponding for the past four months announced that I would be working in Zilina. For the past several months I was led to believe I would be working in Trencin. My departure date is now only a week and half away, so I feel rather stressed and frustrated by this last-minute change in plans. I know that Zilina is a fine city, but I already had a flat arranged in Trencin (at a very good price!) and because I have friends in the region, I want to stay near Trencin/Trnava/Bratislava. I know of at least three other serious job opportunities in my preferred local but I am not sure about the official protocol and legalities with regards to changing employers (and the Slovak Embassy in Canada has been very slow to get back to me!!). My question is this: Do I have to resubmit my application for a Temporary Residence Permit before leaving Canada (because the initial application was submitted with the original employer's information)? Or can I go to Slovakia in the next two weeks and change my employer after I arrive??
I am grateful for any advice.
Thanks,
Brendan. |
