Hello,
Im heading down to CR in early January. I have an undergrad in secondary science education and just finished my MS in biology. Im actually hoping to get into the ecotourism industry but thought it might be a good idea to pick up a TESOL certificate just in case I need to supplement my income a bit.
Are these 100 hour online programs worth anything? By that I mean, could I actually get a job teaching English based on this credential? I have classroom teaching experience so Im hoping that might make up for the lack of English teaching experience?
Does anyone know of any opportunities near Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula?
This forum is super great, thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice!

You could get a job teaching English as a native speaker in CR with only a BA (in anything!). Although in other countries, gov'ts are asking for certifications more often lately, you might as well get the very cheapest online course, if you're not going to get 120+ hours classroom plus supervised teaching practicum.
Interviews are very important in CR, so don't expect to get a firm offer until you show up for an interview. |
