				| Hello folks. I'd intended to send this to certain people via pm, but that ain't working so now you can all see it! 4ums 4ever!
If anyone has their own webpage with windows-1251 (cyrillic) encoding and wants a different Russian word every day (with optional sound file
  ), bob's your uncle...
If you go to http://www.visarus.co.uk/syndicate you can get one line of code to put in your page that should bring up a neat little table with my Russian word of the day.

It also links to my site - well, you don't think I'd do all that work for nothing, do you?!

 Probably more entertaining than educational
  but undeniably different
 Nerd alert!!
Coming up: possibly an option for koir-encoded pages if enough people are interested.

 Chances are, nobody's interested anyway

Any chance you can get that 'word-of-the-day' gizmo

to work on a normal forum page like this one?

If so, I'd be happy to add it to The Index

'cuz Изучение русского языка - забава !

				| ты чё? какая забава? больно же!
 Hmm... good idea
that's a bit of a challenge for а total чайник like me
Might work as static links to an image and a sound file... change the files every day instead of the links... all can be done in theory... server might get a bit miffed about being exploited though...

Could make a good forum avatar

Let you know when I've done it!

 Yay! PM is back!!
Will write you there when it's done! | |

				| Seems to work okay:

Might not work on all forums though because of the image type - can write a script to make a .gif or .jpeg version

Quite chuffed with that - thanks for the idea Kent! Mad avatar coming up...

				| Well it works on this forum ...

 поздравления !

So it was the dreaded png file?

What the hell do I know about png.

I thought png was Papua New Guinea.

 Anyway ... I've added the 'word-of-the-day'

to the Index here at Dave's as well as

 the VisaRus Master Index -

within the Learn Russian Online category

and at the very bottom of the updates page,

with a hot-link back to you know who.

And for your programming brilliance -

you are hereby awarded the coveted

				| Today we were talking about feelings and one of my students said "Ne v svoei tarelke" (not in one's plate) - seemed to mean "like a fish out of water". | |
