I have an interview this week for an editing/proofreading job and the company have asked for examples of documents I have edited.
This is a problem because I haven't done any editing so far in China!
If you have any documents that contain particularly bad english(essays, articles etc) could you emaiil then to me?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey FlyingCamel,
You know, I'm going to be looking for some of the same gigs to compliment my teaching income when I hit China in Feb. Maybe we can help each other out here.
What type of content will you be editing for the site? Maybe I have something you can use. If not, then a good suggestion would be to find direct examples of their current work. Do they have a website you could pull content from? Maybe reword it, make what they already have sound better. If they're looking to hire you, then they obviously need help.
And here's how you can help me out. How did you land this job? What would I have to do to get the interest of companies? Also, whats the earning potential for editing gigs?
Take care,
Chris. |

I have edited any number of papers in "English" that were to be delivered at symposiums or conferences. Most looked like the original Chinese version had been put through Babelfish: total gibberish.
I had to track down the Chinese original and, with my Chinese literate wife, start from scratch. And no, I didn't keep any of them.
I wish you and your sanity well. |

Babelfish, AH! I get essays with "bawcock" "sputa" and "inamorato" from online translation services. Good luck with your editing job |

i almost went to an interview with Li Yangs crazy english (guangzhou) in september for an editing job, until i found out they were offering about RMB6000 monthly (no apartment either) for a 9-5 mon-fri job. |
