Hi,
I'm going to be coming to Japan in February to teach English (most likely), and I'll be staying for at least a couple years. I was wondering if anyone out there knew about gay life outside of Tokyo and Osaka, particularly smaller regional cities--Kanazawa, Niigata, Kumamoto, Shizuoka, etc etc. I may not want to live in Tokyo. I've heard it feels stifling at times, just too crowded. But, I also don't want to end up living somewhere where I feel isolated because there isn't a sufficiently dynamic and large gay community to connect to. I'm hoping to get in contact with gay/bi guys (preferably men, I'm a gay guy, although anyone knowledgeable about the being a gay guy in a regional city would be great too) so I can ask some questions.
Btw, I'm 28, out, half-Japanese, speak a fair amount of Japanese (but not fluent), and I've read what I guess are the main threads on the subject of being gay in Japan. Thanks |

I think you might struggle to find much open Gay activity anywhere in japan.
I live in osaka and i only know of one gay club. I imagine their are obviously more but in osaka there doesnt seem to be much of a gay scene, even in all the house clubs I have been too.
I am not gay so maybe there is a scene for those in the know, but it might be difficult for you to find it. |
