| I'm in the 2nd year of my English degree and am looking to go abroad next summer (June - October) to teach English - can anyone give me any pointers at all such as reputable language schools or sites? Thanks! |

| tefl.com is one of the better sites. Summer recruitment ads start appearing around April. Do you have a CELTA? It's a standard requirement. |

Look on it as an investment. Leave the student bar an hour early and you'll soon save up enough money! |

Your biggest problem is going to be the dates: June to October is a slim time for teaching in Spain and most of Europe as most companies and students suspend their lessons between July and mid to late September. Oddly you'd be much better off for teaching work in the UK where there is a good demand for teachers for summer courses.
If it's more the being in Spain part that interests you, then head for the Costas and work as a waiter or barman: reasonable money to be made there if you turn up in late May/June.
If it's the teaching that interests you then get yourself off to Japan and do the three month JET short contract that they're offering, or work in the UK.
There is a little bit of work to be had in Spain over summer, but not much and it's much coveted by other, more experienced teachers, who are skint over summer. |

Summer-camps are often referred to as COLONIAS in Spanish. Some only advertise for teachers in the Spanish media. These ads start appearing in the spring, although there are always some schools that do not advertise until the last minute. Here is an on-line source for newspapers in Spain. http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/spain.htm Around March, April, May start checking under the empleo section for profesor/a de ingles positions in colonias. Note that although the employer may be in a certain city, the work will almost always be in the Spanish countryside somewhere. It may not be near the city at all.
Buena suerte, |

| I worked for a few summers is a summer camp which doesn't require CELTA. It's based in Bilbao but the camps are all over the north of Spain. It's called STEP languages www.steptravel.net It's fun if the other teachers are fun. I had 2 good years and one awful one! They don't start recruiting until May time really but send them your CV. Lie and say you have experience looking after kids and you'll be fine! |
