I worked in Medellin Colombia for 4 years and I arrived with a suitcase of clothes and shoes and .........some mags, flyers, brochures, etc. Why??? well I got everything I needed here on the cheap (yes even nice bedsheete, a laptop, and even more great shoes). The other stuff was great for use in class, eg. plan a party for 6 with a flyer from Safeway and give your students a budget, great activity. Or try something similar with a Catalogue from IKEA, or whatever, just a few things go a long way for an interesting class, remember alot of your students are planning to move to North America someday.
