Has anyone been to Penang? I am curious about the prospects of teaching English there, and if there are many expats there. Also wondering about the climate/temperature/humidity. I'd love to hear it if anyone has any thoughts.

Penang is a lovely place to live and one day I hope to retire there myself. However, like so many nice places to live opportunities for English teaching are very limited and competition is very high. I have never yet seen a job advertised internationally - and I certainly would notice.

Climate is tropical, average daytime temperature 30C with high humidity.

I am the teaching coordinator at a large school in KL, Malaysia, and actually, we are currently looking at recruiting for a new centre in Penang.

Penang's a great place. I'd be happy to live there myself!
