I am wondering if anyone has any good ideas of what to do in Taiwan for Chinese New Year. On www.tealit.com I have looked into the curises on the Superstar Gemini line and was wondering if anyone had taken them or how they are. I am looking for any ideas where I will experience something new. I would also like to go to the peng hu islands.
Thanks,

When does the lunar New Year begin this year? Does anyone know? I heard that we have one week off at the school I work at, but I have no idea what week it will be...
As for the original post, I know that many native Taiwanese people like to travel abroad during the New Year if not spending time w/ family. If you know & are close to a Chinese family, it would be interesting to see how they observe & celebrate the the New Year. Also, bus tours not a bad idea...economical & several options... |

depending where you are located there's a boat to Penghu from Tainan city. The following is what somebody posted on another group about it:
There is a boat that leaves from the Anping port to Makung, Penghu Island, once a day. Times are subject to change but as of now a boat leaves every day at 7:30am returning from Penghu each day at 5:00pm. Check to make sure. You can buy tickets through the Hwa Chyi Shipping Company located on Jainkang Road Sec. 2 No. 301. Tel: 06-263-7188 Ticket prices are 450-950 depending on desired seats. Be sure to book enough in advance, as of Today (May 30, 2005) they are booked until mid June.
What is there to do in Penghu, anyways? we are thinking of going for something to do. |
