I gotta tell you, I'm working about 1.5X the hours I worked at my old school (but make 2X as much!). At first I thought I wouldn't like it because I was so used to just lazing around so much. But actually I DO like getting up every morning (M-F) and having a purpose to my day. My workdays fly by as well because I'm so busy. It's nice to usually get home around 4pm, iron some clothes for the next day, fix my supper, and relax in front of the TV. I actually look forward to weekends now.

In other words, previously, my life in China had no structure and I didn't think I was making much of a difference with my charges. That is now no longer the case. Also, doubling my salary really lets me save, save, save and still not have to live a frugal lifestyle (which some posters here seemingly enjoy! Wink ). Coming to Suzhou was a really good decision . . . so far.

Glad to hear you're doing well ... I remember it wasn't too long ago you were set on leaving this crazy place for good.

I am sort of in the opposite situation, my school has given me far less hours than I started with my first year - thankfully they didn't lower the pay, however. I have an absurd amount of free time, especially since all of my classes are in the morning. But I don't know which to prefer: having too much free time, or too little. I am making headway with the language, at least.

Ha! But that still doesn't do much for your waistline.
