Anyone ever stayed at the Dynasty Inn (Nana soi 4)? I've stayed at Nana Hotel, but wasn't impressed. Also open to recommendations in the area in the 1,200thb range. Thanks! |

I stayed there about 6 years ago and I thought it was fine but if you are a "normal" tourist then I wouldnt recommend it.
If you want the nightlife then yes its great. But I have heard mixed review depending on which wing you get in. I think the new wing is supposed to be the better one.
IF you are so inclined they also give a free transfer down to the pattaya hotel ( if you are going to stay there ) |

I have never stayed at the Dynasty, however, I can recommend the Woraburi nearby at 128/1 Sukhumvit Soi 4 (Nana soi 4). This place is just far enough away from the "nightlife" of Nana Plaza to avoid the constant solicitations - if that is of concern to you. If you enjoy the "naughty nightlife" the hotel offers free tuk tuk service to Sukhumvit. This is also handy because you can easily catch the Skytrain (Nana Plaza station) to get around the city. The hotel has all the creature comforts, including a bar, restaurant and travel services and fits well within your 1200 baht/nite budget. I think I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 baht/nite including breakfast but that was a few years back. You can find them at www.woraburi.com. You can call them at 66-2-656-7236 They have several properties so double-check the location when/if you are booking. If you want to up your budget I can recommend the Bel-Aire Princess (Sukhumvit Soi 5, Tel. 66-2-253-4300) in the 2000+/nite range or the Grand Pacific (now called the Westin Grande, at 259 Sukhumvit near soi 17 and very close to Asoke Skytrain station, Tel. 66-2-207-8000) in the 4000+/nite range. If you want to avoid the Nana Plaza scene completely I can recommend the Krit Thai Mansion (931/1 Rama 1 Rd which is next to the National Stadium Skytrain station; Tel. 66-2-216-2241) in the 650-850/nite range and a very good value with all the comforts. This hotel will put you in very short walking distance to the MBK shopping complex and of course you are right next to a Skytrain station which is great if you want to hop on over to Nana or Patpong Enjoy.

^ You can't beat a personal recommendation.
I've added Woraburi & Krit Thai Mansion to
The Master Index Thailand. (Appendix A)
Here's a link to Krit Thai Mansion:

I was at the Dynasty for a couple nights on both ends of a recent trip (March-Apr) that had me passing through BKK. As someone said, if you're not participating at all in the neighborhood activities you can do better. But Dynasty was quite nice I thought...about 1200 baht as I recall, 24-hr cafe with beer. Skytrain around the corner and good food, drink, girls all about. I only passed through the lobby of the Nana Hotel but Dynasty seemed much nicer. In Pattaya one can do a little better for location and money but facility is fine and getting there is free from BKK Dynasty (you have to pay for return trip though). |

1200 baht is a little high for me--I usually stay in the 600 a night places, which are perfectly fine. That's what most of the little guest houses around there charge. I like the breakfast at the Dynasty, though, which is always excellent if a bit pricey (140 baht with coffee and orange juice). For a better breakfast deal, walk down to Sukhumvit, cross the street, turn right and walk down just past the Starbucks and turn left into the alley. Foodland Supermaket has a mildly famous food counter which serves up a nice 55 baht breakfast (eggs, one strip of bacon, orange juice, toast, and coffee, all quite good). It's always a bit crowded at the counter, though. |
