Just woke up and was catching some CNN. Noticed a story about a Western or European English teacher who paid students to have sex with them.

The story reported that he was HIV postive (or had Aids, not sure) and had sex with over 400 students, while knowing was infected!

Now, I am not a prude and I love a beautiful woman just like the next guy but come on, there is no excuse for this type of cold, heartless and calculated action!

As fellwo teachers and human beings what can we do to help combat this type of human dedrigation and murder (Yes, giving someone AIDS is a form of murder) ? I know of several interventions that could be applied in an ideal world but beyond that I don't have an answer other than starting with the "Man in the Mirror" and be the best human being you can be.

The Dispicable and Heartless actions of this man is far reaching.

It is really a shame that this goes on ( and we all know it does ). I have no sympothy for this GUY. He is a discrace to both the profession and human race.

It did sound suspicious to me, so I went online and found the original story
and now I do not see anywere in the story that he was a teacher?? Thanks for alerting me to checking the validity of story--geeze these CNN guys need to get the facts straight

And here is the story cut and pasted for your convenience.

German arrested for trying to re-enter Thailand
Published on Nov 25 , 2005

A German man who was at the center of an HIV scare involving hundreds of Thai women was arrested for trying to enter the country
for the third time, police said Friday.
Hans-Otto Schiemann, 54, was detained Thursday night in Chaiyaphum province and will be handed over to immigration police.
"He was arrested late last night at a bus terminal in response to a request by immigration police and we will hand him over to immigration today,"
said Colonel Boonlert Wongwatjana, Chaiyaphum police superintendent.

Immigration police in Bangkok confirmed that they will expel Schiemann as soon as possible, but declined to say how and when he re-entered Thailand.

Schiemann, 54, who claims to be infected with HIV and had unprotected sex with hundreds of Thais, was arrested for a second time in March after
re-entering Thailand through Don Muang international airport despite being blacklisted.

Schiemann, a one-legged army veteran, had been deported earlier in the month for overstaying his 30-day visa.

Neighbours in Chaiyaphum said last year he drove around the town offering large sums of money to students for sex and also frequented karaoke bars to
pickup women.

Health officials printed some 2,000 flyers warning students to avoid him a nd posted banners throughout Chaiyaphum.

I think its a suspicious story that CNN should not be reporting.
Give us some more specific details before asking the Forum's opinion.

Agreed. If true, there should be some reliable newspaper, with online link, that we could read up about it on.

I'm not surprised by anything that passes for news on CNN these days, though.

Seems to me that paying students for sex in Thailand is suspicious. From what I've heard, there are too many professionals around for that to be necessary.

Maybe he was teaching those 'professionals', after all, sooner or later they may like to have more than just 'five dollah' in their vocabulary! Razz Laughing I'm with JT and Cd, the story seems a might suspect.

Hey Stosskraft, nice winter coat!

I think Mchristophermsw was referring to the guy in question as heartless, not his jailing. But I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong! Very Happy

HE WAS NOT A TEACHER!

Good grief folks, isnt our reputation bad enough without repeating rumours.

The guy is a german ex armed forced living in thailand on a disability pension. He went around looking for younger girls and paying them 1000-1500B for unprotected sex. Of course a lot of the younger girls are university students or high school student.

He has been deported twice after he was convicted of overstaying his tourist visa but somehow managed to get back into the country.

But he was NEVER their teacher.

"A blacklisted one-legged German at the centre of an HIV scare involving hundreds of Thai women was arrested for entering the country for the third time and will be expelled again, police said yesterday.

Hans-Otto Schiemann, 54, was detained on Thursday night in the northeastern province of Chaiyaphum and will be handed over to immigration police.

"He was arrested late last night at a bus terminal in response to a request by immigration police and we will hand him over to immigration today," said Col Boonlert Wongwatjana, Chaiyaphum police superintendent.

Immigration police in Bangkok confirmed they will expel Mr Schiemann as soon as possible but declined to say how and when he re-entered Thailand.

Mr Schiemann, 54, who claims to be infected with HIV and supposedly had unprotected sex with hundreds of Thais, was arrested for a second time in March after re-entering the country through Thailand's main international airport despite being blacklisted.

Mr Schiemann, a one-legged army veteran, had been deported earlier for overstaying his 30-day visa.

Neighbours in Chaiyaphum said last year he drove around the town offering large sums of money to students for sex and also frequented karaoke bars to pick up women. The allegations were first made by his ex-wife.

Health officials printed 2,000 flyers warning students to avoid him and posted banners throughout Chaiyaphum.

Officials said the scale of the problem was not clear, with many women reluctant to come forward for an AIDS test, but said Mr Schiemann could have had sex with up to 400 women and teenage girls.

Thailand has no law allowing action against people who knowingly infect someone with HIV."

There should be a similar story in http://www.nationmultimedia.com/ but I cant get in there just now.

My suspicions are beginning to be aroused. Only need to find out that the wife was an ex-bar girl and the house was in her name.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Thailand have the highest number of HIV-infected prostitutes? Could explain it...
