do you feel more comfortable going to foreign based
companies than going to Japanese companies? Like, when
getting ADSL, does it just make you feel safer to go with Yahoo
because you know the name and it's more familiar to you than,
say, OCN or Biglobe? Same with cell phones, vodafone over
Docomo or au because you know vodafone/verizon wireless from
your home country? Citibank over UFJ and others?
I'm just wondering, because, when you are living in a country so far
away from your own, you'd look for things that you are farmiliar with,
and that's what I did when I was in the States. |

Actually for me, the only place where I depend on foreign brands is with medicine. I find a lot of the Japanese medicine dosages don't work well for me.
I used to have a hybrid PHS, then a J-phone, and now a vodaphone cell only because they offered international service first. A lot of the Japanese products are cheaper here, so my wife and I tend to buy them (though I notice some of the Japanese facial tissues are not such great quality, I will opt for spending more money to get Kleenix or Scotties, but not all of the time).
And heck, all the electronics stuff (TV, microwave, vcr/DVDV player, stereo, etc) we have is all Japanese, that was the same when I lived in the states! |
