Hi,

I have been in Madrid now for a couple of months and I am dissapointed in my lack of knowledge about the music scene in Madrid.

Does anyone have any recommendations concerning live music in Madrid. I like different kinds of music, but I am especially interested if there are any good jazz venues around. Also any info of rock or acoustic nights would be greatly appreciated.

In addition, I am a guitarist who would very much like to join a band whilst I am here in Madrid. Does anyone know of a band seeking a guitarist that might be interested? If so PM me.

Any info is much appreciated,
Pete.

Hey Pete,

Check out MAP Magazine at www.mapmadrid.com. It's a new online magazine about Music, Art and Politics (MAP) in Madrid. In the community section they have a list of live shows and events in Madrid.

As far as finding a band to play with, guitarists are a dime a dozen (I should know, I am one!!). Check In Madrid for classifieds or ad a free one yourself as I've seen a number of people use that over the years to find bandmates (especially of the English speaking variety). You could also try posting flyers (or checking the flyers left by others) at the many music shops around the center.

Suerte!

I just went to the Barco bar the other day (c/ Barco, Tribunal) for the first time - it was cool! Free entrance (with expensive drinks to compensate, I suppose) and I got to see this excellent Flamenco guitarist. From the looks of their program, its a mixture of Jazz, Flamenco and misc. styles of rock.

On the topic of music does anybody know about band rooms in Madrid?
It seems as though you have to book them for the year (the ones I called in to).
Anybody know of any band rooms or want to share a bandroom??

Sorry if Im off your topic a little,

Thanks in advance

Jari,

PM me. I can give you some info on band rooms or possibly sharing one (the band I play with just moved to another "local" this month and we were sharing a room previously, they may be looking for another band to come in).

A friend of mine and I are also thinking about starting a side project and might need another place (preferably sharing with another band) but that might be a few months down the road.

How soon do you need one?
