150 U.S. dollars A DAY, man? That's good!

I would recommend the YMCA, Salisbury Rd., Kowloon; not sure what the exact room rate would be but U.S. 150 sounds just fine. It is located in Tsimshatshui, Kowloon's most touristed district (bars, shopping, Kowloon Park for recreation nearby) and it is a next-door neighbour to The Peninsula, one of Hong Kong's most famous hotels.

The facilities at the YMCA are excellent and there is no proselytising or Victorian-era segregation of sexes.

On HK Island, there is a YWCA on, I seem to remember, Hollywood Rd.; similar to the YMCA. Location is fairly attractive in colonial surroundings and not far from Central's main attractions such as Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong Park, the Star Ferry etc.

Over in MACAU I only know relatively cheap or medium-priced guesthouses in the Sanba tourist area around the former Macau Government. There are a handful of hotels - 1 to 2 stars - that charge you around HK$ 150 to 300 though your partner might be put off by the presence in the lobby of dozens of working girls.
One hotel that doesn't normally have such girls in the lobby is the Hotel Central in Avenida Di Ribeiro, in Mandarin this is Sanma Lu, the main thoroughfare from the Hotel Lisboa to the old ferry pier in the Inner Harbour area.
There are a few nice hotels farther afield - but within walking distance from the avenida di Ribeiro, but none of them has a website. Some have touts at the Macau Hong Kong Ferry Pier, though.

The Wang Fat Hotel in Causeway Bay (HK island) is pretty decent, and only 2 blocks from the metro or airport shuttle bus stops. Private singles for about $30USD/night, doubles a little bit more. They also have 10 bed hostels if you are in to that.

On Lantau, I can't say enough about the SG Davis Youth Hostel. It is near the peak of the mountain and only a few hundred meters from the Po Lin Monastery (the Big Buddha). Wonderful hiking trails, beautiful views and only about $10USD/night. It's probably a good idea to call and book ahead, however, because the hostel attendant goes on break from 10-4 and locks the entrance to the hostel grounds. To get there take bus no. 23 from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping (the last stop). A beautiful drive.
