I am applying to be a full time university instructor of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) in Mexico but I need to know what the average yearly salary is for Masters-holding university level instructors are. Does anyone know what a full-time universty instructor in Mexico would be?

Many thanks.

In addition to the depending on where, the salaries of university profs seem to vary depending on what they teach.

I assume you will be teaching English. Very Happy
But is English a major there? Will you be teaching future English teachers? If not, how integral is English to the student's majors? If English is just seen as an add on, you may find yourself less valued than the teachers in other departments with similar qualifications as you.

Plus, the cost of living varies WIDELY!!!!! In my town 2500 a month gets you a beautiful spacious two bedroom (unfurnished) apartment. A furnished room with private bath goes for 500 pesos. The most expensive rent I've ever heard of in my city was a 4000 pesos for a five bedroom house with a swimming pool. And a nice meal at the poshest restuarant in town would set you back no more than 150 pesos. A two course set lunch at a mom and pop place goes for 18 pesos. It can be hard to spend your money here. But how about Mexico City or Cuernavaca? I bet you'd be hard pressed to find any place to rent for less than 3000 pesos.

Not sure about Cuernavaca, but a spacious, unfurnished two-bedroom in a central area of Mexico City would be more...anywhere between 3000 and 10,000. I'm renting a 3 bedroom, unfurnished at 6,000.

And do you know what Hermosillo is like? Is it liveable for a pink-skinned Englishman?
