Hello,
Wow! My first post. How utterly exciting!
Anyway, I'm currently in South Korea and thinking of making a move to Ecuador. I've run across a couple of schools and wonder if there's anyone out there who has heard of them and who could offer advice, if any.
1. Centers For InterAmerican Studies (CEDEI)
2. Universidad Tecnica De Cotopaxi
I have a BA in Spanish and InterAmerican Studies, a CELTA Cert., and almost one year teaching abroad under my belt.
Would either of these places be worth looking into?
Thanks for your help and time!

I worked at CEDEI way back in 1995, it has continue to develop in the mean time and probably very changed. I loved it! I loved Cuenca. I had a great time. CEDEI at that time was full of interesting people of many nationalities, doing a variety of things, not just learning English and Spanish, and held various cultural events. They were housed in a lovely colonial building in the heart of Cuenca. Based on my experience, I'd highly recommend it, but like I said, that was ten years ago. |

I've heard that CEDEI is a pretty good gig. Salary is OK, not extraordinary by outside standards, but more than good for living in Cuenca. Cuenca isn't too expensive, and is VERY pretty, surrounded by lovely countryside. It's on the far side of provincial though, and real "city" types have reported finding it a bit boring. It really depends on what you're into.
I don't know much about Universidad Tecnica Cotopaxi, but if you fill me in on what branch (which city) I could pass on a bit of knowledge about the site...
