Dave Sperling will be the featured speaker during a live webcast at http://worldbridges.com and http://wiaoc.org
Friday, Nov. 18 6pmGMT Global Times
His topic is 'Dave's ESL Cafe: A Reflection on a Decade of Building an Online Community'
Would be great if some of the community members could tune in and participate. To tune in, go to http://worldbridges.com/ and click on the 'listen' links. To participate, visit the chat room or call in to the teleconference.

This is part of a three day virtual conference for ESL teachers that's very worth checking out.

Isn't 6PM GMT - about 3AM in Korea?

Why, in this modern world of virtual communications, can't they also save the proceedings and we could upload and view them at other - more practical - times?

Or, please tell me that they do that already!

Perhaps someone here would volunteer to record it, park it somewhere, then post a link? Or better, park it at eslcafe.com so we can get it later...

The audience for this webcast is pretty global and presentations go on around the clock. Some presentations had to be scheduled for 3am in Korea.

The show will be recorded and a file made available for download on Worldbridges.com. I'll post a link here as soon as it's uploaded. I suspect If there's interest, Dave would be willing to come back for a 'Korea focused' webcast. You can see the archive of a Video interview we did with Dave back in 2003 during his first visit to Korea at http://www.koreabridge.com/kotesol/2003/sperling.htm

Audio from the webcast with Dave is now online at
http://worldbridges.com/webheads/wiaoc05/Sperling-2005-11-18.mp3

During the show, Dave mentioned that he'd be glad to come back for another webcast that would be scheduled at a more convenient time for those in Asia

The idea of some kind of regular 'Eslcafe Radio' webcast came up as well. If there's enough interest in the community for making something like that happen and at least one moderately tech savvy person to manage the tech side of things, I'd be glad to provide whatever support Worldbridges.com can.
