I'm hoping to find a fall job teaching in russia, but I'd like to be close to the chinese border, both because I'm interested in vacationing there and because I'm interested in the places where languages mix. I've considered Khabarovsk because it's a sister city of my native Victoria, Canada, but I can't seem to find much in the way of information about schools there. surely there are organisations outside of Vladivostok offering EFL to russians!
I'm also interested in smaller cities, because I come from one myself and am easily overwhelmed by larger ones.
I suppose if I can't find anything that immediately suits my needs, I can always get a job that's easy to find and then look for jobs to follow it with once I'm actually in russia.
so if anyone has good leads on information about schools in the far east, especially in small towns near the border, I'd much appreciate it if you shared. thanks. ^_^ |

^ Thanks for the plug, rogan.
I usually have to pay for that kind of PR.
I'm trying hard to keep page 2 updated -
but I'm worried about dead links on page 1.
So ...
If anybody happens to run into a dead link,
please let me know via PM, and
I'll boot it out asap!
With a major Index on the Thailand Forum
and a full teaching schedule, I sometimes
run out of time to scan the Russia links.

How about blagoveshchensk?
I think the Chinese town on the other side of the Amur/Heilongjiang is Heihe.
According to LP this was the place where in the old days they had big huge speakers blaring out propaganda to the opposite sides.
I met a priest from Blagoveshchensk on the train once, he seemed to like the place. Never been there myself though, and dunno about schools.
In Vladivostok there is heaps of Chinese/Russian trade.
You might want to take up a position on the Chinese side btw. Lots more people there, and therefor schools.

yeah, but my russian is about five years and two native speaker boyfriends ahead of my chinese, so I'm hoping to land a job on the side where I feel confident communicating...not to mention I've wanted to go to russia since I was 16.
china's next on my list anyway.
thanks everyone for the pointers. |
