Hi there

I've been lurking around this board for a little while now and thought I should introduce myself. I'm from Brisbane, Australia, and like many others visited Turkey last year and fell in love with the place (Istanbul in particular). I went back to Istanbul a second time to decide if I still liked the place enough to live there, or if I had been looking at it through holiday glasses. I decided that I definitely wanted to try to live and work in Turkey for an extended period.

So here I am - I am currently undertaking my CELTA course, and plan to try to get a job and move to Istanbul in the second half of this year. I had been thinking of doing the CELTA course for a couple of years, but my 3 months travelling overseas last year has probably accelerated my career change.

At this stage, I'd appreciate if anyone could offer any advice on the time of year when most schools are hiring - I have read lots of different advice on this and find it a bit confusing. I think I am looking at teaching at an English School rather than a K-12 or university, because I don't have an education degree (I have a Masters in Public Policy).

Anyhow, enough rambling from me! I look forward to meeting you all.

most schools have a bump of hiring in sept and oct, but they also hire throughout the year. You should have no problem getting hired whenever you are ready. I think you will enjoy living here since you are already in love with it Smile
