I am sorry my last two posts are not teaching related. I am buying a computer this weekend and am going to base how much I spend depending on wether or not I can get it home after I am done in a costly manner. I will only ship the tower home. My two choices are:
1) I have a spair suitcase and coudl put the hardrive in there and surround it by clothes to make sure it dosent get damaged. I am wondering if this is legal if I make sure to show them and if they would charge me extra.
2) How much would shipping a tower home cost?
Thanks,

I'd say take a taxi, but I guess you are talking about when your gig is up here?
What I would do is gut the puppy and leave the tower behind. |

My advice is to buy a laptop as that would be more portable and doesn't count towards your hand luggage allowance on a flight. No airlines will take responsibility for the insurance cost!
I understand that a tower will give you more flexibility with upgrades and can be cheaper to get a more high performance machine but if you are not bothered about that you can get some good spec machines for a decent price. I bought a brand new Asus with all the toys for NT$25,000.
Posting something is not that expensive. I posted a box home from Taiwan with around 15kgs of stuff in and it cost me NT$1,300. That is surface mail which takes around 2 months. Airmail is double that and a bit more but takes only a week. You can choose the level of insurance you need but I would pack the box really well as it will be on a ship and get bashed around a lot if you want to send it surface mail.
Hope this helps.
