but only give me the advice I want to hear such as where is the best money, which are the best schools, how I can optimize my experience overseas and how I can easily become a part of it.
Please refrain from negative comments such as unsafe locations, shady operators, professional liars known as recruiters, poorly-run schools and snakes in the toilet. And above all, do not mention how any type of training might be useful. I have already made up my mind.
Thanking you in advance for your participation |

O.K.
You can go anywhere you want, work in any country you want, get any job that you want, teach anything you want in any language that you want.
And everything will be wonderful, your students will love you, the administration will respect you and you will be paid on time with a bonus.
Is that what you wanted to hear ? |

All schools pay up front for your round trip airfare to and from your home. They will pay even if you want to go to your home in Vancouver from your school in Beijing via Bangkok, Sydney, Kathmandu, Istanbul, Stockholm, Lisbon, Cape Town, and Rio. They will pay whatever extra is necessary for you to have two-week layovers in each city. They will also pay for you to return home for Christmas and St. Jean Baptiste Day. |

Where are the best jobs?
By what standard do we judge the best jobs, satisfaction or money/ If you're talking about money, well, suprisingly, some of the very best, may ask about qualifications; however, as you don't want to talk about these then I think the interviews (should you be invited) might be a touch tricky.
Still the people interviewing you might respect your insistance on not talking about qualifications and give you the job anyway; instead of giving it to someone qualified who is prepared to discuss their qualifications. Unfortunately, the people at the visa office might not take the same view. Anyway good luck in your fight against such government oppression and oppressive laws. I hear many alledged democracies have the audacity to require proof of various forms of qualifications before they will issue a foreigner with a visa which will allow them to work as a teacher. Good luck in your crusade to rectify this!

Some of you did not respond with what I WANTED to hear. I shall refuse to read any further posts from you.
However, Rogan so eloquently elaborated,

Now that is what I WANT to hear. Thanks for avoiding anything I might have construed as negative.
Steiner added,

This is the best part of all. But, you failed to say whether or not the schools would pick up the hotel bill. If can't provide such information next time, please do not respond to my questions.
BTW, is that flying, fat man you? God forbid it be one of my potential students. I will only teach attractive, well-behaved individuals. |

kimo,
Rogan was being sarcastic. Didn't you get it?
As for Steiner's remark...
Quote: |

This is patently untrue. In Japan, only about 4 schools (all of which recruit overseas only) pay something for airfare, but not what you think. A couple provide a "bonus" equivalent to airfare after you finish the contract, and a couple provide discounts on airfare that they help you to arrange. Only Westgate Corporation and the JET program pay your airfare in advance.
Very few places in Japan will foot the bill for hotel, as well. You either get recruited from the big 4 eikaiwa overseas (and still have to pay your own transportation and lodging expenses in the interview city in your home country), or you fly here with a lot of money in hand and job hunt on your own, paying your own way 99% of the time.
By the way, kimo, nobody seems to have asked this question from your original post...

so I will ask. What are your qualifications and nationality and age? In some countries like Japan, these factors are very important in determining whether you are eligible for certain work visas. Give us some basic info first, ok? |

Glenski, settle down. I've been to Hokkaido plenty of times. My ex was from Sapporo. Summer ought to have you in a happy mood.
This thread is not real! It was a parody on some folks who come here expecting to hear only how wonderful EFL can be, and then get upset when they find that it's not always so. I have found negative posters to be great teachers on this forum. Scroll around and check out, "Where should I go?" There are others. |

So, you are only prepared to listen to that which YOU want to hear....? Very strange....
Best money? Try the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; you can earn upwards of 10,000 UK pounds a month tax free as a professor of TEFL at one of their unis. Can you make the grade? Do you have a PhD in Applied Linguistics? |

Kimo:
Why go to that scary place called abroad when you can have the same experience right here in the good ol' US of A? Hawaii is the answer, my friend. Come out to where the livin' is easy. Any joker with a sixth grade education can step off the plane and immediately find private students willing to pay $90 an hour minimum to jabber with a native speaker. Set your own hours! Buy a house in Kahala with everything you earn working 4 hours per week! Whatever you do, don't listen to those people who talk about silly things like high unemployment, falling tourist arrivals, lack of jobs, and (worst of all) qualifications. They're just protecting their territory by pissing on your dream.
Do watch out for the officers of Hawaii 5-0, though. That Steve McGarrett is a real tough guy.
NOTE: The above is a poor attempt at humor (aka humour) and is not meant to be taken seriously. The author takes no responsibility for death, injury, bankruptcy, humiliation, or disillusionment resulting from taking the patently ludicrous advice given above. |

Here is some advice,
1) If your students don't understand you, SPEAK LOUDLY AND S L O W L Y! Volume and speed is the key to understanding a new language.
2) If your boss does anything you don't like, for example making you work on a sunny day you want to go to the beach, simply stamp your foot and say `This isn't like it is at home!` (your mother and father house). Suprisingly this works in all situations.
3) If anyone does ask about qualifications (I know you don't want to talk about them) say `But I speak English` if this does not have the desired effect refer to 1).
Seriously, this or my own `History of a rock star` or something similar should be posted as a `Read this before you post` somewhere.
I think that the problems we see in this forum, the `Where is the best place to go...` posts and subsequent flames, have one main cause. People don't read any posts or job journal entries before they post. Every week I see the same stuff. This is a good forum for specific information and a bad place to say `I want to make money and have a good time, where should I go?`
