Never have I read any posting here that praises the Chinese for their honesty and trust. I have just been screwed again for the umpteenth time. Everybody says we foreigners must just accept that thatis the way the locals treat others. I also know that we are here by choice blah blah blah. It would've, however, been so much easier to have mutual trust and respect. I don't know if the Chinese simply refuse to see that happy staff and teachers can bring in so much more money - if that is then what this is all about. I have been burned many times in Taiwan and came to China expecting something different. How naive can one person be? There is no point in this posting - just general venting of anger I have no other way to get rid of.
Oh shut up Rodger!

a suggestion louras - maybe something that you find usefull or not, but a way i go about bussiness here - get a chinese person, someone you really trust to check out the chinese you are (going to deal) dealing with.
the views of another "inscrutable mind" can sometimes be very revealing - I know this tactic has led me away from grief a couple of times - but at the same time - i still rely a lot on my own gut feeling

Who is that chap? What has that churl said to you???

You are right - it's very, very rare for anyone to be encouraged in trusting any Chinese! I second that!

Don't know if you trust westerners any better though...

Nice website, vikdk! Classy all the way.

Since this thread has no point, I'll add to it by saying: I quite like that Roger has me reaching for the dictionary every once in a while. It's always good to learn new words, aye?

churl
>noun
1. a rude and mean-spirited person.
Archaic: a miser.
2. archaic: a peasant.
Origin: Old English 'ceorl', of West Germanic origin; related to Dutch 'kerel' and German 'Kerl' ("fellow"), also to 'Carl'.

PS Louras, sorry to hear you've been burned again. Any chance telling us how, so as to warn newbies about what not to do?

Hi Louras
I will be one of those that praise my Chinese boss. I have been working for him for 3 years no problem, now let me tell you about the foreign scum that have ripped him off, leave without notice so my company is fined, don't show up for class, have fights in the bar where the police are called. I have been in China now for over 4 years I ahve been treated very decently but the FTs have been total Fuuuuwhits Go figure

Don't trust, believe or go on anything any chinese tell you - they will smile in your face and screw you at the same time. No matter how friendly they appear - it is their culture to do what they wish with everybody and that will include you!

Sorry you've had such a rough ride. My rabbit's foot has obviously worked for me.
But then if you're just here for the beer and the babes, what do you expect?
