Hey all,
I have just accepted a teaching post in one of the international schools in HK. I have a three year Bachelor of teaching degree from Australia. Do you think this will be a problem for me to obtain a working visa and pass the assessment of the teaching qualifiaction. I have 5 years teaching experience in the field.

i don't think you should have any problem having your visa application approved. and i am sure your school would have hired teachers from overseas before and would be able to tell if your teaching degree is going to pass the EMB. as long as it is a teaching degree that allows you to be registered to teach in your own country i think you should be fine. (this is just my opinion and what i have been told by others. if you really want to make sure you could try to contact the EMB and get their guidelines for acessing overseas qualifications)

Given that you are working at a [non-government] international school, the EMB will not be your employer.
In any case, bring as much supporting paper-work as you can.

Believe me, you need every bit of paperwork you can find, if you want to get full registration. I went along with my two degrees, my postgrad diploma, my TESOl cert, my NZ teacher registration, employment history letter from my NZ school, and my full academic record only to be told they needed my Y12 results!
They wouldn't accept anything until they saw that I had passed Y12 at school! This despite the fact I had 2 degrees and a PGDE! Despite the fact that my academic record clearly stated that I had entered Uni due to having passed my Y13 (Bursary) exams.

On top of that, they wanted $2160 to 'process' the application.

All I can say is, brace yourself for the unthinking behemoth that is HK public service bureacracy.
