I am graduating in May from Northern Arizona University with a bachelors in elementary education with emphasis in ESL> I leave for Spain the end of May and have a trip planned until mid July. I intend on staying and living somewhere in Western Europe hopefully in Spain because I am able to communicate in Spanish.

OK, next step I want to get my TEFL certification. So many questions, whcih TEFL certification centers are the most credible.I am noy able to take a course in the U.S. can I just take an online course here in the states prior to leaving? But I know a good month course with lots of hours is the key to getting a good job. How much should I pay for a good and reputable certifiection? I have been online searching and with out at least an out-line of what organizations, when, where, etc. I just get lost.

My tentative plan is to take a good TEFL course and apply for a teaching position in Spain. I know I have a long way to go however i can not even get on the ban wagon with out my certificaion.

Would it be best to try to get my certification in the same country as I would like to teach? Is there a better chance of getting a position?

i have many more questions but i will just start with thise. Very Happy

First, are you eligible for legal employment in Spain, or anywhere else in the EU? Ask that question first...

If you don't have an EU passport:
You can get employment in Latin America without a certificate.
In Spain you'd be getting paid "under the table" and a cert probably won't help you there.
