Hello all
Completed my trip. Talked to a couple of schools, and generally tried to imagine what my life might be like if I lived there all the time. (There are pros and cons but I conclude that the pros outweigh, so I am busy packing)
I have what could optimistically be construed as an offer. My gut tells me this is not enough basis for a major relocation, and I should not budge until I see something official. Any advice or observations from more experienced people? Thanks. |

It all depends on how badly you want to come here, I suppose. When you say major relocation, are you talking about bringing family over here, or just a lot of stuff? Even an offer on paper is not necessarily worth much until you're actually in the door...
If you really want to come over here, then come, and the rest will sort itself out. However, if you're talking about bringing a family I guess it's not that easy...
If you wrote your pros and cons as a list, what would they be? |

PROS: Experiences (too many to list), immersion in a culture I love, already have general knowledge of Turkish language, looks good on graduate school/job applications, closer to the girl of my dreams
CONS: Living in a HUGE, very ALIEN city with almost no contacts, working at a very hard job with very little financial benefits or security, lack of savings now to properly fund the move |

As long as you're single and childless, those cons are hardly worth mentioning next to the pros.... |

I certainly agree, which is why I''m merely waiting to have a job setup. Who needs money beforehand?? |

And it can't buy you love or happiness, apparently. I guess I'm gambling on those odds |

Implying that 'money is boring', so evidently an opinion, is true |

Truth is relative. But maybe that's not true. |

So you are of Plato's idea 'knowledge is true opinion' with the trivial substitution of 'my' for 'true' |
