|

We are three Canadians teaching in Sivas but heading to Istanbul for the New Years weekend, staying at a hostel in Sultanahmet and looking for some BIG PARTIES that weekend. Can anyone recommend some hot spots??? Or if they know of any big New Years party going on? |

So are we to believe from the lack of replies on this thread that TEFLers in Istanbul don't know how to party? I only wish I had some Raki for my own New Years Eve Send some my way if you are feeling especially caring this holiday season: what better way to forget a Turkish girl then to drown yourself in Turkish alcohol? |

You could always knock up a model of the Bosphorous Bridge in your back yard and throw yourself off it ... |

No, no-- I think we just don't want to continue the conversation with you know who around, in case he decides to come too. |

Now Back to your question. New Years can be very expensive in the city.
If you want to go out to any of the big clubs you have to book and be ready to pay any where from 50 Y.T.L to more than 250 for dinner and drinks.
All of the clubs and bars in Taksim will have something on that night, prices will be alot less.
If your into a big night you can try out the posh places along the sea side road in Ortaky or Bebek.
All of Istanbuls hotels will have night on. Three years ago I went with some friends to a night at the Swiss night club. A great night yes, (at 75 Y.T.L it had to be )
ubuk 29 on the sea side on the Asain side will have top night this year. You have ring for the price. |

What you need to do is pretend to throw yourself off but allow yourself to be persuaded not to in front of the TV cameras. |

Can you afford to party and fill up your pound account? |

Best to avoid Taksim square, it is way too busy and pickpockets will be out in force.
I'm waiting for christmas to be out of the way first before I even think of New Year |

I've heard people say this is a bad time of year for foreigners in Istanbul - do you find this to be true? Or are pickpockets always thick as flies there? |
