|

Hi Folks,
I posted on this a few months ago and didn't get too much response, but I'll try again...
I need to find a primary school on the Asian side of Istanbul for my child in the next few months, I don't want to pay more than 10,000 YTL for tuition (no chuckles, please), and I don't expect a guarantee of university entrance. I do expect that if my child pulls her weight, she will succeed. She is already bilingual, language programs are not a big deal. Any advice appreciated. Please post, PM, send smoke signals, whatever....
Thanks in advance...
(Oh, and preferrably as secular an environment as possible...) |

How old is your child. This will effect the cost, are you or your partner a teacher, if so alot of schools give aq discount for teachers.
Do you want a good state school or privet. There are many good state schools on the asian side in the more up market areas.
If you want privet then you have to count in the cost of transport on top of the school fee.
Education is not cheap in this city, yet if you go with a state school you can find a much cheaper alternative.
If you really want privet go for Anabillim, Bilfen, Batifen( these are the cheaper opptions) and anyone of the Iştek schools ( they give good discounts for mix marriage kids)
Good Luck, you are going to need it. |

Good points.
I work part-time in a high school that has no primary ed attached. I'll ask about teacher discounts, though, thanks for the tip.
I would rather not go the devlet route and the good govt. schools that I've heard about are out near Bagdat St, way too far for me. I live in Uskudar. If she's gonna go that far, I've already found a very good school on the European side which is about 5000 ytl per year.
I will certainly check into your list, and would appreciate more school names from anyone...
Thanks a million! |
