|
|
And if so, how much and how often? Is there any other horrid thing similar to it that I should know about?
I have asthma, but it's really mild and I generally need quite a few triggers present to have any problems. Yellow dust is the one thing that doesn't need another trigger alongside it.
Does Thailand have ragweed? Oak trees?
I know, I know....avoid Bangkok. I plan to. I abhor "going out" and do not drink, so I won't be dying of "boredom" if out in the boonies. As long as I've got an internet connection so I can keep ordering books and chat with my family, I'm good to go. I also don't go nutso if no other foreigners are around. I throw myself into my work and enjoy a quiet homelife. So, I plan to be in the boonies, and I'm hoping that the air quality won't be too terrible there.
Has anyone reading this been to Seoul? I live just outside of Seoul. I've been at this current location for a little over a year and have seen a clear sky maybe five times. And, I do all right. So really, my main concern is yellow dust.
--fingers crossed for the answer I hope to get-- |

Well, I'm none too fond of the smell (and taste) of smog, but it doesn't tend to send me to the ER. Please tell me that you were just making a joke because I'm really hoping for no yellow dust at all. That stuff is nasty and gets in everywhere. I have a giant mega-strong air-cleaner that I had to run on turbo 24/7 during last year's yellow dust season and spent most of my time practically sucking in air directly from the machine. You could dust three times a day and still have a fine coating of the stuff covering everything. I'm planning to tape both sets of windows (the inner and the outer) when yellow dust season approaches this year. And, I'm also going to be stripping at the door and washing all clothes and taking a shower and washing my hair every time I come home. Hopefully, that'll make this year easier on me. Anyway, you can see why I abhor the stuff and want so badly for Thailand to be Gobi-free. |

I always thought the "Yellow Dust from the Gobi Desert" was just a story the Koreans made up so we wouldn't think/know that the yellow stuff falliing all around was WAS SULFUR FROM FACTORIES - and really just pollution - rather than natural.
Uh . . . just kidding (kind of). |
