Hello everyone! It is great to be here! Just looking for some advice. Here's my question, My husband and I are planning to have a baby by April but I don't know whether I am entitled to have a maternity leave.
I am presently working as an assistant teacher for almost 2 years now. The contract given to me by the school was always for 10 months working period and after that they gave you a new contract for another 10 months and so on and so forth. But in my contract, I've noticed that there's no maternity leave being stated or whatsoever for that matter. How can I be sure whether the school is having a maternity leave or what? I just don't want my Supervisor to know that I'll be planning to conceive by April b'cuz I'm afraid that they will not give me a contract If they found out that I'm planning to get pregnant. Help please! All your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Look up the guidelines from the Labour Department website. I vaguely remember that you have been in continuous employment with the employer for over 10 months, they cannot fire you or not let you go back to your job. Maternity leave is very short, something like 8-10 weeks. I can't be sure though. |
