|
|
I'm hoping some teachers presently working in Chile can answer a few questions for me. I am 57 years old, native speaker, with 3+ years of ESL experience. I have tuaght English in Yemen, Oman and China. I have a BA degree and a TESOL certificate. Here are my questions:
1. Is there ageism in Chile? Do employers think 57 is "too old" to teach?
2. Can you give me an idea of what I could expect to make as an hourly wage?
3. How would I go about finding accommodation?
Thanks.

Hi,
I am not staying in Chile but I can give you an idea..as I stayed in Paraguy for some time.
Employer do not mind that you are an older person, as long as you do your job properly.
What is properly? Depends on how the students praise you. Same alover the world.
Wages.....anything from $4.00 to $15.00 depending where you land up.
Accomodation....use google for
"""How To Find An Apartment In Chile
Living In Chile ~ by Jon Steele """
You even can email the guy.
nb: I am 61 and I am going end of the year.
Just make sure you speak some Spanish or at least understand it. |

I don't think so.
They take anyone if they have students and no teacher. Trust me.
And nobody stops you from teaching privately , which I am doing already for the last 10 years.
If you teach properly and yield results, your name goes around.
If you teach shit, your name also goes around....
and anyway, I am not over 90 |
