Hello from Russia folks. For those of you (all of you, probably) who don't know me, I've been teaching in Russia for the last three years and like making lists of schools.
If anyone's worked at a Berlitz or International House in Japan, I'd be very grateful if you could add a review in my list of schools in Japan. I think I've got just about all of them in there.
I'll be adding more schools as time goes on. If anyone is working somewhere and would like to review a school that's not in the list, I'll be more than happy to put it up for you to review. If you run your own school you can register it yourself. Just don't try to review your own school
Don't all rush at once. I've had three schools reviewed out of countless hundreds so far Come on folks, I want this for when I decide to up sticks, if everyone chips in it'll be there for you too!
From a quick scan of the Japanese forum the employment situation here seems pretty grim. How so when there are so many schools? Oversupply of teachers or have I got the wrong end of the stick and it's really not all that bad? I'd intended to stay in Russia only a year to get experience and then move to Japan. Would still like to try it one day
Come to Russia everyone, there's no end of jobs here. You can have mine if I leave, I've got three! Willing to swap temporarily! |

Interesting idea, Bob... Here are some things to think abot... What are your criteria for schools? If you were to list every school in Japan, you'd be a long-bearded senior citizen and still not be finished. There is literally an uncountable number.
I suppose you must be focusing mainly on large chain schools then. That's about the only way I can see this working.
As well, I hope you have a method of dealing with threats to you and your site about being sued or shut down (no, seriously) because that is a big problem on Dave's. There have been sites similar to yours that have come and gone but I can't think of any that have managed to stay running for any serious length of time.
Good luck in your endeavor.

Why not ask the teachers union of Berlitz what they think about Berlitz?
http://berlitz.generalunion.org
Not including their voice, excludes the voice of labour in your list. |

Thanks for the ideas - didn't know about the union!
Not too worried about getting 'shut down'. There are plenty of backup plans and I work in a software development company in Russia, land of hackers... Don't see why anyone would want to shut it down though
The best they could do is take it down for a dew hours or a day at a time. It's backed up hourly and mirrored on different servers
I know there are endless schools, don't plan to list them all in a day but I do plan to gather as many as possible. Got to start somewhere!
Thanks again folks |
