i have an interview with peppy kids club next week. it will require overnight travel to get to the interview (from portland, oregon to vancouver b.c.)
what do you think? i can still cancel. are there better options? it seems that i would be required to comute quite a bit. |

I think you should only need to take one trip.
What are your other options? |

thanks for your quick reply. i could afford to travel to japan (after getting a few job interviews lined up). peppy kids club would have me commuting almost as long each day as i teach (average teaching hours are 5 a day). i sometimes have to go to more than one location per day. |

I seriously doubt a company would have to commuting 5 hours a day. Please recheck your facts. You company pays for your transportation in Japan. Peppy's isn't the end all and be all. Without a job in hand, you have to pick your battles. Beggars can't be choosers.
I would much rather have a job lined up, coming to Japan, rather than coming here and searching for a job. |

Peppy Kids' Club is a semi-major eikaiwa chain. They are nothing like the "Big 4" but they have a fair number of branches across Japan. From what others have told me both directly and indirectly, it's not a horrible place to work, but you do need to like kids. A lot. It also sounds very unlikely to me that you would be commuting as much as you figure. Not unless the branch they are hiring for is already very remote and it gets remoter yet.
I would NOT doubt however, that you would be 5 hours from Tokyo or a major city. That wouldn't be so unusual... But that's not a trip you'd be making that often anyway. |

The longest I have to commute is 60 minutes one way. The rest of my schools are a 30 minute train/bus ride. |
