Hello y'all, I love your posts Very Happy

anyway, just wanted some advise from the bone fide professionals!(moonraven, mextmike, guyconchese, naturegirl..etc....ect)

I have a BS degree, a Celta cert(But never actually received it!), 2 years of esl experience in Pachuca at the American School, teaching english and math at the secondary level. I also passed the Texas content exam to be a grade 4 - 8 teacher for Math, English, social studies and science(It's not a teaching cert, just a content knowledge exam).

What's the best way to go about acquiring a good job teaching preferably secondary in the DF area including Puebla, tlaxcala.

thx Laughing

The best way is to be in Mexico, meeting school directors/hr people, and letting them know you're available. Get that CELTA cert though!

Dont we all? Laughing Laughing Laughing We ARE English teachers!

Ditto Guy, get that piece of paper. With your experience teaching secondary, you should have no trouble getting work. For better pay, a teaching cert would be really really good ... a number of good schools want or require them, esp. if they have the International Baccelaurate program.

I got my friend (who I met here) a job at my school who was a jr high/high school teacher in Canada and is now implementing/managing the lower-level IB program. If youre looking to teach long-term, I would definitely consider more formal credentials. They seem to be valued more in Mexico than in the states (meaning theyre more likely to get you a better job. I know many who got my degree (I got a MA in English), were never able to find a job in the field in the States.)
