I really need help picking a school. Can any one help me out???

I've heard contradicting opinions of HESS and Kojen, chains vs. independent schools, etc.

I need some solid info. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

There is no one answer. The conflicting opinions come conflicting needs of teachers.

Maybe if you take a moment to outline what you want from your experience here in Taiwan it might encourage others to take time to give you their opinions as to what might be a good fit for you in your case.

Kramer,
If you have never taught before, have no idea what you are doing, not bringing over any cash, want to be told what to do and how to do it and absolutely adament that you must have a job in hand before you arrive, then by all means take a job with someone like HESS or Kojen. It is a much better option than signing with a recruiter.

If however you do have some experience and are not utterly broke then try to be a bit more selective. Come here first and see for yourself.

I agree with the above. The Chain schools aren't all bad and you essentially know what you are getting. It's a good start to being in Taiwan.

Definitely don't sign a contract to work DIRECTLY with a recruiter. Agents, however, can be very helpful in the sense that they can give you a variety of options and then they help you sign directly with the schools yourself.

Good luck!
