I've seen this as a requirement for some of the jobs I browsed on the websites provided by theresatan:

"California Community College Instructors Credential in English as a Second Language"

Is this a legitimate qualification? I've never heard of it, but those Californians can be pretty weird and bureaucratic Wink , so I thought I'd ask.

Jizzo, you used to be able to get/use such a credential--usually in lieu of the MA. Nowadays, so many applicants have at least an MA that I've heard the credential, while still accepted in some places, can no longer be earned.

The following website seems to suggest that the credential has not been offered since 1990. It has a lot of other interesting (though very dated--especially salaries) CC info, so take a look:

http://www.calmis.ca.gov/file/occguide/TEACHCOM.HTM

Theresatan's "postmeup" site is really useless spam. The best sites for CC jobs are the Chronicle:

http://chronicle.com/jobs/100/

and HigherEdjobs:

http://www.higheredjobs.com/default.cfm

Awesome Job Sites, taikibansei! I spent more than a fair amount of time browsing through the open positions. For anyone wanting to return to the states to teach ESL in CC's, start with those.
