Hello,

I am new to this forum but have a few questions I was hoping you guys could answer for me.

I am planning to go to Japan in October after I have finished my CELTA course. My girlfriend is Japanese and is currently living in Tokyo.

My plan is to go to here place where I can live rent free for a while and look for jobs advertised in the local papers etc.

Do you think that this will work - I know that I will have to sort out a visa after I have got an offer of a job.

How long am I likely to have to wait before I get an offer if I try hard to get one. I have just finished my BSc. Computing degree.

Any advice is very helpful to me.

I have heard of people starting work 2 weeks after they come here. I have also heard of people who wait their whole tourist visa (90 days) and never find a job. Depends on your resume appearance, interview skills, location, timing, etc.

Bring a lot of money even if you think you'll be with your girlfriend. You don't want to appear like a freeloader, and it may take you 2-3 months to find that job.
