Anyone been traine by them and can give me a report on their services?? They seem O.K. and claim to be internationally recognised BUT when I asked for details they stated that a TESOL certificate is recognised internationally. |

A link would help?
You may well find they offer a package but the course isn't actually run by them. |

I've heard of them back in NZ, apparently they are a bit of a cowboy outfit. Basically, any certification you get from them may be recognised by lower quality schools, but if you want to get a decent salary you will probably need CELTA or trinity. More expensive but well worth the investment. |

They do presentations around New Zealand now and again. They tell you it is much easier to get job with the TESOL degree which you can get in a week for around NZ $1000.00. I investigated it after spending three years in Taiwan and decided I knew I could get a job in Taiwan easily without that particular qualification.
Some possible places of employment do ask their employees for the TESOL qualifications though. |

The CELTA which i did cost around $3000, but it is an excellent course. You are guaranteed to learn a lot even if you've been teaching for years. it is demanding however, it's a pretty intensive four weeks. |

Re CELTA courses in Thailand, do a Google search for "ECC Thailand". ECC run courses in both Bangkok and Phuket.

Which part isn't true? Although it's not absolutely essential (ie if you have good contacts) I think you'll find that you have a major advantage securing jobs paying over 45K p/month if you have CELTA/trinity. That's certainly the case where I work, in fact it is a prerequisite.
Another point I forgot to mention but the previous post jogged my memory. The CELTA is much cheaper in Thailand than Australasia. I think it's around 30% cheaper[/quote] |

Not really true what you said mate initially.
By all means name these schools??? Otherwise a pretty much moot point and purely your opinion (which I think is incorrect). |

take a look at any jobs paying well on ajarn.com, they usually require an internationally recognised TEFL certificate. Also, you haven''t got a hope of a job in Europe without one. I don't think it's necessary to name the schools but here are a couple of examples from the site:
Province
Bangkok
Salary
Over 40,000 Baht/month
The applicant must be TEFL/CELTA qualified, be a native speaker, and hold a degree for the purposes of visa regulations.
The applicant must have experience of a range of different learner levels and ages, and be confident in his/her ability to impart the knowledge gained to more junior members of staff- experience with YLs, Teens and Exam Preparation Courses will be viewed particularly favourably
Province
Bangkok
Salary
Over 40,000 Baht/month
Benefits include:
 48,000 baht a month (before 9% tax)
1 year BUPA insurance cover (including repatriation)
40,000 baht 1 year completion bonus.
Free daily meals in the school canteen.
Approx 10 weeks a year paid holiday.
ENS teachers must be qualified with a Bachelor Degree and recognized TEFL certification such as Trinity certTESOL, CELTA, CELTYL or equivalent. |

Yes that's as I said mate. As long as it's internationally recognised (100 hours study and 6 plus hours OTP) it will be accepted. That applies to CELTA, TEFL Int's full time course, T&T's, Stamford, TEFL1 (with all the OTP), etc.
Simple really! |
